One morning, Nasreddin Hodja was walking toward the village pond carrying a big container of yogurt starter. As the cool waters of the pond sparkled under the morning sun, Hodja seriously began mixing the yogurt starter into the pond.

A passerby stopped in disbelief and asked:
— Hodja, what on earth are you doing? Do you think the pond will turn into yogurt?

Hodja gently looked up and replied with a wise smile:
— What if it does?
